Surely he will wear
this habit down.
Movement in the earth
keeps him crazed
while private voices
sing the praise of
his violent success.
Like marooned ghosts
they learn to seek out
a cold heart. His steel
is fading. His cause is
the severed head
of an infinite snake.
No â you donât see it
his way, in missions
and hourglasses
shaking faith
to its very foundation.
In fire, the days retreat.
In him, oceans churn.
